hi i'm new here i wrote this poem last year for an english class (we were studying romanticism). let me know what you guys think!

"Still Flame, Still Water"

Breathing in as the quiet, soft blowing air, its taste
Salty like tears, surrounds us in this dark blue silence.
The breeze sighs its lonesome melody to us while
Tall grass and trees waltz in time with the ocean waves.

We search for answers, which may never be found,
Gazing at unreachable stars, too distant to take notice,
Nor with the monsters in the dark depths of the sea.
But dreams crash like violent currents, and our hands
Struck away as the dear stars refuse to fall for us.

Worn small and smooth by grief, we sit like the sand on the shore,
Holding onto that old threaded rope, trying to find a new path
Still gazing through a broken shard of rose-colored glass,
Waiting to be swept away and washed clean
In the salty ocean waters, stinging with our tears.

So weary and longing to leave the shade of night's cover,
Crawling toward the sun, we wait for a light to reveal itself.
Only one candle shines out in our laps,
The flame dancing to the ocean's sound and waves,
Moving to the beat of the wind and grass, and of our hearts.

Constant as the world turns itself round,
The light illuminates what is hidden under the water.
Still our steady hushed heartbeats, like the soft strong thunder
Of each pensive breath as it leaves our heavy lungs,
Remain fragile, innocent in the light's horizon,
Waiting to remove the veil of night,
And lift the curtain hung by listless stars.

Pouring our souls into the flickering candlelight,
Entranced by the ocean's siren song and the air's ethereal dance,
We remain in the masquerade, the eternal push and pull,
Our fates left under the mercy of night and dawn,
Simply waiting for their light to enter our open eyes.

First welcome to CC!

"Breathing in as the quiet, soft blowing air, its taste
Salty like tears, surrounds us in this dark blue silence."

These first lines gave me so much to visualize. It is well written and very romantic. I am sure that you got an A on this one!
