I want to preface this post with the fact that I absolutely love my daughter and couldn't do without her.
buuuut.... she is going through this attitude phase. For a little background she is 3 years old, very articulate due to being around older cousins all the time and full of attitude. She is just pushing her limits, talking back, throwing fits, etc and I am slowly losing my mind. LOL I feel like I am constantly getting on to her or correcting her or arguing with her, etc....
I hate that. I just want to be her mommy and have fun with her and it feels like those moments are few and far between lately. I know it's probably a phase but sometimes it feels like it will never end. (big sigh)
Ok thank you everyone for listening to me rant I just needed to blow the steam. I welcome advice though ofcourse.. just needed to vent.

Well, I don't know if your little darling is old enough for this, but I seem to remember my son becoming a stinker around that time and we started a little system that seemed to work. As a matter of fact, he is nearly six, and he and I just talked about bringing this system back because he seems to be learning some unfortunate words at school!!! YIKES!!!

So, here is what we do. We take a bunch of pennies and put them in a container. Then we set out two other containers (we just used coffee mugs). One container is the "Good Boy" cup, and the other is the - you guessed it "Bad Boy" cup. Now every time he would do something that crossed the line into naughty land, he would have to take a penny and put it in the "Bad" cup. If he was exceptionally wonderful and did something fantastic (like pick up his toys without asking etc.) he would get to put a penny in the "Good" cup.

Now, what we did was have consequences or rewards for both cups. If at the end of the designated time period, he had more pennies in the naughty cup, he would have a privilege taken away. But, if he had more in the good cup, he would be rewarded. You can bet your bottom that he wanted that reward, and would go above and beyond to get that reward.

It really seemed to work for him when time outs and what not were just not working! Perhaps it will work for you! Children seem to respond well to tangible rewards and being able to put the penny in the cup is a hands on reminder of their behavior. Good luck!!!

Wow, great suggestion! Thank you so much. I have tried some positive approaches like that but nothing that was a tangible thing she could touch and see growing. I will definitely try that. I think she is old enough to understand it.
Thanks again, any suggestion is helpful and this one is a winner.
