| | Subject: Prednisone... | Posted: October 13, 2007 @ 1:46 AM | | Well, as most of you know, Prednisone seems to be the miracle drug that helps so many of us with auto-immune diseases. But as we know, it is a double edged sword. I thought you ladies might appreciate this poem I wrote a while back...
Thank you Mr. Prednisone:
Thank you for the mood swings which allowed me to tell off my boss. I’ve really wanted to do that for years! It wasn’t really that great job in the first place...
Thank you for that extra 30 pounds, sure keeps me warmer in the winter. And now I don’t even have to pretend to be that size 12 anymore.
Thank you for the lovely full face. I always wanted those beautiful full cheeks of that girl in the second grade. Better late than never I guess…
Thank you for the increased risk of osteoporosis. I always needed another excuse to eat more ice cream!
Thank you for the acne. I knew I bought stock in cover up for a reason!
Thank you for making my monthly cycle so crazy. I always did like surprises…
Thank you for the new tiny cataracts in both eyes. I always wanted a reason to buy those really expensive sunglasses. And hey, I get to look forward to laser surgery later!
Thank you for helping me bruise so easily. It is always fun to walk around with an exact imprint of a doorframe on my arm to show everyone what a klutz I am.
Thank you for letting me heal so slowly. That time I broke my arm was so much fun to spend 18 months in various casts!
Thank you for the hair loss. I always knew I was a hat person.
Thank you for stunting my growth. I knew when I was 12 this was exactly how tall I wanted to be forever.
Thank you for eating a hole in my stomach lining and intestines. I can now be that great bathroom critic. Maybe AAA will accept monthly articles from me?
Thank you for all the sleeping problems. I get so much more housework done, and even find time for some nightly fun with my boyfriend. He loves it when I call and wake him up!

I get the hot flashes too. The water retention! I forgot that one totally! I've been off prednisone for 8 months and I still retain water!

| | Subject: Prednisone... | Posted: October 17, 2007 @ 6:48 PM | | | that was absolutely awesome. it's so wonderful to hear that others are going through the same thing i'm going through. i actually hadn't told anyone, including my doctor about the prednisone making me feel like something was crawlling on my skin. i thought i was bugging out. but now that u guys have said it, i may mention it to him. well, they're finally tapering off on my dose so hopefully i'll be off of it completely pretty soon. wish me luck. i would love to have another baby but being on all this medicine makes it very risky. | |

| | Subject: Prednisone... | Posted: June 10, 2008 @ 9:57 PM | | | Has anyone ever hear of prednisone causing diabetes? My son who was born premature has a really hard time getting over being sick. The slightest cold will usually turn into pneumonia and he has to go through a course of prednisone. I never researched the drug and up until now with reading what you all have said about it, I never knew that it caused such problems!! thats always the case with drugs isnt it? you take something for a problem and get problems from what you are taking so you take more to combat those problems and so on and so forth! its MADDENING!! |
