| | Subject: Anyone tried Dr. Bernstein Diet? (Dr. Stanley B.) | Posted: July 23, 2008 @ 10:46 PM | | Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had tried this diet out...
I tried a few years back and I am thinking of re-joining.
He is a Canadian Dr. who believes in low calory doets with the help of vitamin injections.
I think he might of openened a few clinics in Florida...
Anyway any feedback and/or comments welcommed.
Thanks a bunch, Mandy |

About 10 years ago, I joined that centre in Toronto. Let me explain first that I was about 145 pounds and extremely fit (I exercised several hours a day and ran marathons). I had an eating disorder and an image disorder. I had no need to lose an ounce at that time. I just couldn't get it though my thick skull that I was not supposed to be a size 8 or a 6 and my body likely wanted to be fatter not thinner.
So I went to that centre telling them I wanted to join. Instead of turning me away, they took my money and proceeded to put me on a ridicululously low calorie diet that immediately caused me to gain weight. And then more weight.
I eventually wised up, stopped giving the centre my money and started getting counselling so I could start eating like a normal person, stop starving myself and accept that I was likely a natural size 14 or 16 rather than a single digit size.
What kills me about this centre is they paid absolutely no attention to the fitness level I had or how much muscle weighed. They told me I was supposed to be 125 pounds which is actually horribly thin and skeletal on my frame.
They took my money without even counselling me.
The diet itself was too low calorie and if anything I found it just made my eating disorder worse.
Now the worst thing is 10 years before this ... 20 years ago ... I signed up with the same business to lose weight and at that time they put me on a 660 calorie a day diet! I lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks and gained it all back plus more and started my eating disorder.
I'm pretty sure that Bernstein diet centre regularly reincarnates itself under different names. I think they promise fast weight loss without much care for the person.
I would recommend Weight Watchers and joining a fitness program at a Y or a nearby gym or community centre first! Good luck!

I'm Canadian too, I haven't tried it and would never! I've heard too many stories of exactly what Tuesday said.
