| | Subject: Christmas!! | Posted: October 2, 2008 @ 9:50 AM | | It's just around the corner. What are we doing this year, ladies?
I am not doing a tree...did one last year. The kid is not home with us - oooooh maybe I can do a tree in her apartment!!! ok..ok...relinquishing control here.
I am thinking about topiaries again...flanking the entrance of our home and a nice wreath.
I always do my mantle or rather a table but I want to do something different.
Any ideas, suggestions? Would love to hear what everyone is doing. |

I want to do something different so that is why I am not opting for a live tree. I kept thinking...topiary trees of different sizes in front of my big picture window but I want to be treeless this year and I may not do my table...
I like the candle arrangements.
BTW, your pictures of your apartment are beautiful!!!! |

I like the iron tree from Horchow, the Red topiary, and the platinum tree urn but "that ain't happening" at my house for that price. I can hear my partner yell now.
I did buy a Creche last year and can't wait to arrange it...maybe I will make it the focal point.
Goody...what say you? I think I can make this...

| | | | | | Subject: Christmas!! | Posted: October 10, 2008 @ 5:07 PM | | ok the neimans are gorgeous but you could make them for way less..
the balsams are a bit boring..
i love the red and there is something about the iron that attracts me..maybe that it looks so vintage but the price is out of hand!!
check here.. they have a nice variety and the prices are more middle range..

We went to Hobby Lobby yesterday trying to find scrap booking things for my Mother's scrap book for her 81st birthday and Christmas and Thanksgiving/Fall wreaths/garlands were on sale. So I bought. I also found an "iron" Christmas tree - have to see how I can work that into my decor. It was nowhere near the Horchow price. I bought a beautiful wreath for Fall and it's up now. Neat tiny "berries" in earth tone colors - simple yet elegant. I bought a couple Christmas garlands with feathers and I will be working on them - add to them. I'm not going to use any existing Christmas items...going to buy all new - deep rich colors - almost masculine. I have a table to place in front of the window, will put the Creche on it and put the Angel away - and arrange the garland with fresh boughs (for fragrance) candles a plenty and flank the stairs outside with topiary trees - just two - don't want to overdo it.
We went to a place called Cacao here yesterday and bought chocolates and came up with a great idea for Christmas treats...homemade marshmallows - dipped in decadent chocolate put in bags with graham crackers sprinkled with ginger - gourmet smores. I made a white/dark Belgian chocolate drizzled popcorn and spiced it up with chili spiced salt...I'm getting in the mood.
Black Christmas trees...hmmmmm
Thanks again, Goody. You are always on the money.
