| | Subject: books vs movie...what are the worst. | Posted: January 31, 2008 @ 9:05 AM | | I'd have to really ponder the worst adaptations of a book...but most recently...although it did draw tears...
P.S. I love you was a horrible adaptation. Completely corny.
Next! lol. |

I think the worst movies are adapted John Irving novels...The Cider House Rules and Simon Birch (from A Prayer for Owen Meany) they never get the dark comdey aspects of them... or the irony. |

Didn't like the Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. Then again, it's hard to capture Jane Austen and her humor a lot of the time.
I also didn't much care for The Devil Wears Prada. I enjoyed the book much better than the movie (although I loved the clothes in the movie, hehe). |

The book is wonderful, sarcastic, witty, ironic, etc., and the movie turned it into this sappy piece with an unrealistic happy ending. Even if you've seen the movie, and hated it, read the book, you'll be surprised.

Now I liked that adaptation.....I have seen three different adaptations of P&P and liked them all for their different takes on everything. I do think the 1945 version catches Austen's humor and wit better than any of them.
I liked DWP too.
I have learned that I have to allow at LEAST a year between reading a book and seeing the movie adaptation. |

Not to say I didn't enjoy DWP. It was enjoyable, but it just seemed..off to me. Glen Close did a great job, but her character couldn't even come CLOSE to the Miranda of the book.I just know I liked the book better, ya know? Maybe I should try this year waiting period and see how that works for me. |

It isn't the worst adaptation but it is pretty bad. I can take an adaptation for what it is, a screenwriter's take on a book, but that was just... ouch. Some goods things that come of that film were the trailer and the soundtrack. Exquisite! Really, don't watch the movie. EVER. Read the book and then see the trailer. The re-read the book while listening to the soundtrack and you will have had an all together better experience. |

The books we really boring lol. I guess it might of been because they were for little kids and i was like 15 or 16 but still the movie was much better.
I think that the da vinci code movie was a let down compared to the book. the book was so good! and the movie was just okay i guess....tom hanks was good but the rest wasn't too faboulous lol. |
